Athlete Development

BC Adaptive Snowsports is the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) responsible for the development of the sport of para-alpine in British Columbia.  Working with Alpine Canada, BC Adaptive Snowsports proudly serves as a PSO for Canada’s para-alpine team.  BC Adaptive Snowsports also works with Canada Snowboard to ensure aspiring para-snowboarders are supported along their pathway.

In addition to our national organizations, BC Adaptive Snowsports works with sport system partners, race programs, and clubs to identify and support para snowsport athletes who aspire to represent Canada internationally and at the Paralympic Games. Over the years, BC Adaptive Snowsports has introduced and supported many athletes to para-alpine who moved on to being identified as a NextGen athlete and to represent Canada on the world stage, including Paralympic Champion Josh Dueck, Sochi 2014 medallist Caleb Brousseau, Alpine Canada’s Athletic Director Matt Hallat, and most recently Alex Cairns and Mel Pemble.
Through BC Adaptive Snowsports, athlete support come in the form of assistance bursaries, coaching and training support, and skill development camps.  Below is a list of 2020-2021 targeted para athletes.
